SyncRun ("we", "the app", sync-run.app) is an AI running coach. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and how you can delete it.
Account: when you sign in with Google we store your name, e-mail address and avatar URL. Athlete profile: height, weight, birth year and sex you optionally enter in the app. Training data comes from one or both of two sources you connect yourself — Garmin Connect and Apple Health — each described in its own section below.
After you explicitly authorize SyncRun in your Garmin Connect account (OAuth 2.0 consent), we receive your data via the Garmin Connect Developer Program APIs, delivered by Garmin's webhook notifications:
Health data is delivered as daily summaries only. We do not request intraday series — no minute-by-minute stress, no epoch summaries, no continuous heart-rate variability — and we do not request Health Snapshot, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, women's health or ECG data.
The two permissions are separate: granting access to your activities does not give us your health data. We receive only the categories covered by the permissions you grant in Garmin Connect, and you can change those permissions there at any time.
Garmin data is used exclusively to provide SyncRun's features to you, the same user: an AI-generated coaching review of each of your runs, generation and adaptation of your personal training plan, the in-app coach chat, and delivery of your planned workouts to your watch via Garmin's Training API. Health data is used for one purpose only — so that training advice accounts for how you have recovered: how you slept, how your resting heart rate and heart-rate variability compare with your own recent baseline. It is not used for any medical purpose, and SyncRun does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition. Your Garmin data is never shown to other users, never sold, and never used for advertising or for training machine-learning models.
To generate coaching content, relevant training metrics from your Garmin activities are transmitted to Anthropic PBC (Claude API, USA), acting as our data processor. Anthropic processes this data solely to return the requested coaching output (run review, plan, chat reply); per Anthropic's commercial API terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. No other third party receives your Garmin data. Supporting services that do not receive Garmin activity data: Google (sign-in only), Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notification delivery only).
Garmin data is stored in our PostgreSQL database on our server (EU-hosted VPS); Garmin OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest. Raw webhook payloads are retained for at most 30 days and then deleted automatically. Activity data and generated reviews are kept while your Garmin connection is active.
Disconnect SyncRun in Garmin Connect (Account settings → Connected apps): upon Garmin's deregistration notification we automatically delete your Garmin connection, OAuth tokens, all stored activities and daily health data, their AI reviews and downloaded activity files. You can also disconnect Garmin from inside the app, with the same effect. To delete your entire account, see Account deletion.
If you grant SyncRun permission in the iOS Health app, the SyncRun app reads your running workouts from HealthKit on your device and uploads them to our server. Apple never sends us anything: the data leaves your iPhone only because our app reads it after your explicit permission, and it stops as soon as you revoke that permission in the Health app.
We request read-only access to exactly these HealthKit data types and nothing else.
For your workouts:
HKWorkoutType — running workouts;heartRate — to compute the average and maximum heart rate of a workout;stepCount — to compute running cadence;distanceWalkingRunning — to determine the distance covered;activeEnergyBurned — to determine calories burned. For recovery, so that training advice accounts for how you have rested:
sleepAnalysis — how long and how well you slept;restingHeartRate — compared against your own recent baseline;heartRateVariabilitySDNN — likewise;respiratoryRate and oxygenSaturation — overnight averages;appleExerciseTime and basalEnergyBurned — daily load outside
recorded workouts;vo2Max — fitness trend;bodyMass and bodyFatPercentage — if you record them. These types are read only in the context of your running workouts. From each workout we keep: start time and time zone offset, total and active duration, distance, active energy burned, average and maximum heart rate, average cadence, elevation gain and device model where the recording app provides them, the name and bundle identifier of that app, and whether the workout was recorded automatically or entered by hand.
We do not request or read any other HealthKit category — no blood glucose, blood pressure, nutrition, menstrual or reproductive health, clinical records, medications, mental-health data, or any other health category. We never write anything to HealthKit.
Recovery data is read as daily values, not as continuous series, and it is used solely to shape your training advice. It is not used for any medical purpose, and SyncRun does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition.
Apple Health data is used exclusively to provide SyncRun's features to you, the same user: an AI-generated coaching review of your runs, generation and adaptation of your personal training plan, and the in-app coach chat. Data obtained from HealthKit is never used for advertising, marketing, targeting, user profiling outside the app's coaching features, or similar purposes; it is never sold, never disclosed to data brokers, information resellers, insurers or employers, and never used for training machine-learning models. It is never shown to other users.
To generate coaching content, relevant training metrics from your workouts are transmitted to Anthropic PBC (Claude API, USA), acting as our data processor, on the same terms described in the Garmin section above: Anthropic processes the data solely to return the requested coaching output, and per Anthropic's commercial API terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. No other third party receives your Apple Health data.
Workouts imported from Apple Health are stored in our PostgreSQL database on our server (EU-hosted VPS) for as long as you keep them in the app. Raw upload payloads are retained for at most 30 days for troubleshooting and then deleted automatically.
You can revoke SyncRun's access at any time in the iOS Health app (Sharing → Apps → SyncRun), which stops any further reading of your data. To delete what we already hold, use Profile → Apple Health → Disconnect and delete data in the app: this permanently deletes every workout imported from Apple Health together with its AI reviews, related coach-chat messages and all daily health data received from that source. Workouts received from Garmin are not affected. For full account deletion, e-mail us at Account deletion.
You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: Profile → Account → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent — there is no waiting period and no way to restore the account afterwards.
Deleting the account removes everything we hold about you: your profile, every activity from every source together with its AI review, all daily health data from every source, your training plans and planned workouts, your entire coach-chat history, push notification tokens, sessions, and any activity files downloaded from Garmin. If Garmin was connected, we also revoke SyncRun's access on Garmin's side, so no further data is sent to us.
Signing in again with the same Google account afterwards creates a new, empty account — the deleted data is not restored.
Your account profile and coach-chat history are kept until you delete your account. We do not sell any of your data and do not use it for advertising.
